NEW - Stone Cold - A Detective Macaulay Homicide Case - Amazon.com

STONE COLD

One man's need to kill is another man's cross to bear.

Consultant Psychiatrist Everett Stone sits in his office in downtown
New York City with his life in his hands.

A killer's confession rocks his mind.

One ill-timed decision and it's all over for him.

Three homicides take place in three affluent areas of New York City.

Everett has the key to solving all the cases, but wrestles over his
decision whether to come forward.

One client strikes a raw nerve, setting into motion the gradual unfolding
ensemble in pursuit of the suspect.

One final chance.

One mistake Everett can't avoid making.

What Readers Are Saying About Stone Cold - A Detective Macaulay Homicide Case'

This book is about death and killing, and feeling conflicted.
'The visceral quality of it.
The pull of death on life's forces at the moment of impact.
When the bullet tears through flesh and shattered bone and tissue, before quickly being replaced by oceans of red blood.'
I especially liked the easy writing style and simplistic relaying of the story, which had me hooked from the first homicide, and I will look at the rest of the series now.
Robin Wright-Turley, London

I liked the contract killer's sense of humour. The real homicides surprised me, you don't get that reality much in books. I liked the scenes in the Caribbean, they were believable, and I could imagine it, having been to that part of the Island.
Dennis Brathwaite,Birmingham,UK

This series of books gets better and better. I thought I had stumbled on yet another  run of the mill Detective series but was pleasantly surprised. The writing is top notch, and American English is a difficult style of writing to pull off without coming across as cheesy.
Darran Carmichael, Powys,UK

At last, a book I can read without being bored with the same old stories about murders and police work. I was happy with the ending, it wasn't obvious, and I didn't want the story to end. Perhaps the two law enforcement characters should have a book about their romance, when they have scenes together it's really romantic, which I find really lovely in contrast with the murders and grisly sides of the story.
Sarah,Manchester, UK

Good, really enjoyed it. The Psychiatrist -I could really imagine him, and there's a good portrayal of how contract killing affects the contractor. Well written, with a good pace, not too fast, and not too gory.
Mark, WA

Extract from the book ' Love Over 40 - Find Real Lasting Love'

The evolution of dating

Because their life expectancy is greater than men’s,
women comprise a significant majority of
the older population. In the year 2000, the global
sex ratio of the population aged 60 or over was 81
males per hundred females.
Thus, there were approximately 63 million more women
aged 60 years or older than there were men of the
same age. Since female mortality rates are lower
than male rates at older ages, the proportion of
women in the older population grows substantially
with advancing age. In 2000, women
outnumbered men by almost 4 to 3 at ages 65 or
older, and by almost 2 to 1 at ages 80 or above.

In the less developed regions, older women
do not outnumber older men to the same extent
since gender differences in life expectancy are
generally much smaller. Current sex ratios in
these regions average 88 men per hundred women
among persons aged 60 or over, and 65 among
those aged 80 years or older.

(Population Division, DESA, United Nations)

In fact, for single people over 40, finding true love is not solely about bringing fun into their lives; it is often primarily about finding a true companion with whom they can share the ups and downs of life.

No matter if you are divorced, widowed, or have never been married; there is the hope of finding that one person who will truly care about you.

For the rest of your life.

If you are a middle aged single man or woman you might sometimes wonder how you got to this point in life remaining single. Ask yourself if this is how you want to spend the rest of your life.
Do you really want to eat all your meals alone forever;
or you are waiting for someone to come into your life and make it come alive with excitement and lasting happiness?

If your answer is the latter, then this is what you need to initiate some changes in your life which may include minor adjustments to your appearance, your attitude and even the way you currently lead your life.

Albatross - The Detective Macaulay Murders Trilogy #3 - at amazon.com and smashwords.com now.

**** The FBI hunt for Bo Harknett intensifies to its thrilling climax. ******

One life hangs in the balance.
One chance for survival.
Time is running out.

Will Detective Macaulay get there in time?

The pursuit of sadist Bo Harknett takes Detective Finkel Macaulay into uncomfortable territory, which shocks her to the core.

The final part of this gripping, murder-based trilogy,

"Albatross - The Detective Macaulay Murders Trilogy #3"

has just been published at amazon.com and at smashwords.com

Now that the trilogy has been published, I feel as though I have suffered a bereavement. I did not prepare myself for this overwhelming sense of loss, this feeling like I had lost "people" I love.

As I clicked 'publish' I did not steel my heart for the loss of my beloved characters. Characters who had been in my head and heart for weeks, months, and even years before I could finally confine them to page and screen, and book.

This sense of loss has me feeling bewildered, unsure what to do with myself, what to do to fill the void left by releasing my creativity out into the world.

Writing 'Albatross' was difficult, for a variety of reasons.

Not only is it the longest of the trilogy, it is also the most challenging story-wise, with multiple story arcs and emotions all vying for your attention simultaneously.

Near the final paragraphs of the final chapter I even found myself making excuses not to finish it, and I did all I could to avoid sitting down to write the final few words.

If I told you that there were real tears in my eyes at some of the parts of this  final book, you would be astonished. I have a feeling that this book will take off - all the time I have been writing it, the story and dialogue has come to me in dreams. It felt at times like I was being helped to write this book, it often felt as though another's presence was helping me.

Although I had crafted an outline of the book before starting to write it, the plan changed many times, taking on a life of its own. I went to sleep each night and had dreams about what my characters would do next, and when I woke up it was with a new found eagerness to put down on page and screen what I had dreamt about.

Perhaps it is a 'stream of consciousness' that allowed me to tap into my psyche and write this incredibly suspenseful, thrilling and emotional book, and now that the Trilogy is complete, I have enough material coming to me while I sleep to write at least a dozen more books in this series.

I have arrived, Universe, embrace me.

This Month's Writing Challenges - April

What a week!

This week's writing challenge has been marketing the new book sufficiently to coincide with my KDP Select book promotion which started today.

What a lot of self-publishers do not realise is that once you have written your book the real work of getting it to sell begins. Through trial and error when releasing a new book you will find which methods work for you, and your niche.

Try and remember that the marketing methods other authors have used may not work well for you. Every reader is different, and your method of courting them will need to be adjusted. Similarly, using social media to promote your book may not work for you - social media platforms are now overly saturated with internet marketers trying to sell products in a social arena. There is an etiquette connected to social media which many people do not observe, which is a big mistake.

It can take a long time to attract traffic, attention, interest, and ultimately sales through using social media. This is partly because people need to feel that they can trust you before they will consider buying your stuff, so you have to create a situation where you can build a relationship with them in order to sell to them at a later date. Add to this the fact that sales from social media participation is minimal, sometimes as low as 4% of sales are generated from social media.

Also of note, if you decide to use social media to generate sales for your products or services, do ensure that you read the terms and conditions of using the website, as often there are no affiliate links allowed, which scuppers your return on investment, and revenue. Further, consider that the most active website in social media, Facebook doesn't allow affiliate or "follow" links unless you create a paid advertisement with the Facebook Ads Team.

With these obstacles, it can be understood why only 4% of a companies sales are generated through social media interaction. By all means, use your social media presence to attract traffic to your website. This is my method, and largely it works.

The takeaway message of this week is learn where to market your products and services, make connections or "fans" and nurture the relationship. Only after you have done all these steps, gently introduce your products and services. Provide value and your fans will be clamouring for your products and services.
